Jesus Was A Carpenter

A House Is Built On A Solid FoundationI don’t believe it is a coincidence that in the first years of life on earth as a human being that Jesus trade was a carpenter. Mark 6:3; Isn’t this the carpenter? Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren’t his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.

A carpenter builds – he builds the framework for a new house which rests on a foundation, an anchor to support it and keep it solidly in place.

Jesus trade was, in my opinion, a metaphor for his divine work to build a solid foundation, which was his sacrifice on the cross for our sins, on which the framework for our new lives in him is built. There is an old hymn I love of which the refrain is “On Christ the solid Rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand; All other ground is sinking sand *.” that illustrates this nicely.

I’m sure, since Jesus was perfection as a human being, that the houses he built were constructed perfectly, built on solid foundations and when the framework and structure were completed, resulted in a home of great comfort and security.

It is the same with the Divine work of Jesus and his ultimate sacrifice that built our foundation, framework and structure which results in the comfort and security of eternal life through him when we accept him as the ultimate builder.
