Attorney For The Defense

Attorney For The DefenseUltimately, whether you are a Christian or a non believer, you will have to answer to your maker, God — Adonai, for your sins, just as an accused individual who has committed a crime has to answer to a Judge and/or jury.

But, as in our legal system here in the United States of America where you have the right to representation, to a defense attorney, in the eternal court of heaven you have Jesus Christ to defend you.  1:John 2:1 NIV tells us; 1My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

The outcome of a spiritual trial could never be more important, for you are defending your eternal existence.  By confessing your sins through Jesus Christ and accepting him as your ultimate defense against your sins and the sins of mankind (1 John 2:2; NIV 2He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.) you will receive the Judgment of eternal life with him!

I would not want anyone else defending me in the Supreme Court of Eternity than Jesus.

Eye Witness

Eye WitnessWhat it must have been like to have witnessed first hand Jesus Christ, the man, the Son of God!  It is beyond imagination, removed some 2,000 years, to truly feel what it was would have been like to have walked daily, physically that is, with the man Jesus.  To have been there when he conversed, touched with his human hands and addressed the common every day people like you and I.

For the disciples of Jesus having personally been there from the start of his ministry, until he arose back to heaven to sit at the right hand of God, the Father, must have been motivation in its highest form, for continuing the work of Jesus.  Just read the New Testament and it is filled with this confirmation.  Peter wrote many years after Christ walked physically with him in 2 Peter 1:18 NIV; “We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.”

Peter is speaking of not only being in the physical presence of Jesus but of actually hearing The Voice of God during what is referred to as “The Transfiguration” of Jesus on a high mountain top. Matthew 17:5 NIV; While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”

How could you ever lack motivation to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ after witnessing that? It is awe inspiring just to read about it.  Now, in the twenty first century, we are far removed from these historical happenings, but The Word of God lives on forever! God has eternally blessed us with the ability to read about these occurrences in his word; The Bible.

While nothing could compare to having actually witnessed these events, we can gain the same inspiration and motivation Peter and the other disciples had by reading and studying God’s Word to gain spiritual maturity in our faith. God’s Word, in the form of the Bible, is the living account of Jesus Christ and I know I am motivated, encouraged and inspired to spread his word, every time I read the Bible and its wondrous accounts.

I may not have been an actual eye witness but I know that Jesus lived, died for my sins and arose to live again eternally.  I know that through this and because of  this that I have received the grace of God and eternal life as much as Peter and the other eye witness disciples did!
